Take Care of Your Pets!

My friend is very active with a local animal shelter.  I always see links on her facebook about heartbreaking stories that are so preventable.  People just drop their pets off at the shelter if they get sick with illnesses such as heart worms. This is so avoidable!  Just giving your dog a pill once a month will prevent this!  It just breaks my heart all of the good dogs in shelters who need loving homes.  Please adopt for your next pet.  Also, with cold weather here now, shelters are in need of old blankets, towels, news papers and shredded paper.  Please consider donating any of these items.

I wanted to start another blog about something close to my heart...animals.  I just adopted a precious dog from my local animal shelter.  She is so wonderful and it breaks my heart someone just left her there.  Her story:  Sophie and another dog "Apollo"..brother and sister were left by their owners at the shelter because they were moving.  They are both a year and a half. 

This just crushes me and I know she's not the only dog with this story.  I can't stress enough, that when you bring a dog home, it is a 10-15 year responsibility.  You can't just "get rid of them" when you decide they are not fit for your life style any longer.  If you do think it's ok to just drop a dog at the animal shelter, or abandon them, you don't need to EVER get an animal.  I will be posting more on this topic.
